HW #1

I believe that Banach quote "we are absolute individuals", he means that people are free to be, and do what they want. I agree to a certain degree, but i believe that's true depending on a
persons peers, because if a person wasn't raised to be independent than, how can the be they're on individual?

The answer to Banach's question "What can the absolute freedom of absolute individuals mean?" My opinion to that question is that individuals with absolute freedom, have more of a chance to be absolutely independent, because less freedom would for an individual to be more dependent, depending on them, but the majority would be dependent. The human flourishing is the growth of ones mind (knowledge), and human happiness is one's self mental healing. An ethic that forces human beings to be individual is living on your own or having to do your own personal work, because it involves you're knowledge, skills, and notion.

My confusion about Banach's ideas/beliefs, because it doesn't say where he got these thoughts/philosophies, because whatever he believes about peoples way of independence isnt the same, for where ever he was. I didn't think most of Banach's philosophies were out of the ordinary, because most people question life.

I don't believe that Banach is right, because if other human beings are a lone, than that means that myself as a person is a lone, and we all came from someone (a mother a father, a family, etc.) meaning that we have a past. Also if human beings are alone and are in a trance of non existence, than so should Banach, and his ideas.

  1. To add more to this thought, i believe existentialist, make philosophies based on things in life that are questionable. For example being alive no one knows why were alive, but most people know they are because they, can see touch, smell, feel, and believe their senses. But others try to see beyond that or think that life is a blur, but my own definition of life, being a live, and everything that has to do with noticing life or being real or fake, is the action that one makes to affect, another.

  2. i think what you wrote on Banach was very well written. i liked that you asked the question "if a person wasn't raised to be independent than, how can the be they're on individual?" it really made me think, and agree with the point you are trying to make. because if a person grew up always depending on someone then will always depend on people know matter what situation they are in and they will never fully be able act as an individual.

  3. Rigel,

I like in your post how you connected back to the text and Banach's views of absolute individuality. I also like how you showed your own subjective views and opinions about parts of the text that you were confused about and things about the text that you agreed with or disliked.

I agree with your views of absolute individuals because it all depends on how you were raised as you said in your blog. It is true that if you are not used to being independent then that would show that you are not an absolute individual because of their dependence on others.

Your thoughts about "Banach's philosophies about life are ordinary" made me question my own views of life and compare them to Bancach's. I agree with his views of being alone because you came into this world on your own and that's how you will leave, so therefore you are always on your own.

For your next post you could use more quotes to make your views on a topic more accurate with quotes to back up your opinions. But other than that, I enjoyed your blog very much! :-)
