The Stranger blog Post #2
So far in the Stranger we have seen how the main character Meursault's personality, and thoughts have changed from this nonchalant existentialist, to this dark, sad person. In the beginning Meursault seemed to be bored of life, he was basically living just to live, but i believe the reason he was like that is because he did not appreciate his life enough, which is why now on part 2 he seems a bit more sad, and appreciative about certain things in life he used to have, like freedom. Meursault in part 2 talks a lot about freedom, and how he feels, but how would he know what freedom is when before when he had "freedom", he didn't enjoy it then. I'm still confused about why Meursault killed that guy, and shot him even more, and now realize that he screwed his life up, because if he really does think a lot about little things in life than why didn't he think then. Do you think Meursault is going to keep on breaking, and start having little feelings, and what's going to happen to him is he going to stay in prison for the rest of the book? I believe the significance of The Stranger is to show us how we as human beings always question our lives, and the ways we act later on, because everyone is technically an existentialist, because their is no right way to live our lives, and people do think about how they want to live theirs.
